Our Committment to Help Promote a More Sustainable Way of Life on Earth
 "We promise to do everything possible to not participate in borrowing against our childrens' future."
With this in mind, these are the steps we are currently taking:
- We search for & offer environmentally sound products that promote a more sustainable lifestyle, such as growing food organically, eating local, lowering carbon emissions through proper composting of organic material, conserving & protecting our planet's potable water supply, and reusing and recycling materials.
- Many of our products are manufactured with post-consumer materials such as most of our composters, rain barrels and raised garden beds.
- We limit our offerings of peat products due to the endangered status of the world's peat bogs.
- We only offer organic and natural products for fertilizing and pest control.
- We refuse to promote excessive energy consumption by offering HID lighting. Instead we offer LED and Fluorescent garden lighting products.
- We maintain a focus on carrying products that can be reused year after year instead of "disposable" type products.
- We recycle all cardboard and shipping products by reusing these materials whenever possible. If they cannot be reused due to excessive damage, then we ensure those materials make their way into the proper recycling facilities. We will never purchase unsustainable products for shipping, such as plastic or styrofoam packing materials. However, if we receive these types of materials in a shipment to us, we WILL reuse them instead of sending them to a landfill. In these cases, we will include a note to the recipient informing them that we're reusing those materials and ask them to do the same.
- Although we've received many requests for a printed catalog, we've made a conscious decision to break from the norm and not offer one. We feel with the extensive availability of Internet access, electronic representation of our product line is sufficient.
- Constantly educating ourselves on what's happening on our planet in regards to our environment so we can learn new methods of helping sustain our lives on Earth.
- Communicating these ideas to you through our blog, newsletters and various forms of social networking.
- In our facility, we:
- Purchase recycled print paper
- Keep most records electronically
- Always opt for electronic communication with business partners over paper-centric billing, invoicing and communication methods whenever available
- Take steps to reduce the amount of information we need to print
- Recycle all materials that our local facilities allow, include composting organic materials
- Use compact fluorescent lighting
- Use energy-saving power settings on computers and other equipment and ensure they are turned off at night
- Maintain and eat from our own kitchen garden!
